Residents Want Better Value for Their Tax Dollars

One thing I keep hearing from residents is that people want better value for their tax dollars.

That does not mean people expect everything to be free. Most people understand that city services cost money. Roads need to be fixed. Snow needs to be cleared. Parks need to be looked after. Recreation facilities need to be maintained.

But people want to know their money is being spent carefully. At the doors, I hear this a lot. Some people are worried about tax increases. Some are frustrated by roads that still need work. Some wonder why certain projects move ahead while basic services still feel stretched.

The message is pretty simple. People want City Hall to focus on priorities. Before spending public money, council should be asking basic questions. Is this a priority? Can we afford it? What are we not funding if we fund this? Does it improve the services people use every day?

Families, seniors, renters, homeowners, and small businesses are all being asked to make every dollar count. City Hall should be expected to do the same. Ward 4 residents are not asking for grand promises. They are asking for practical decisions, responsible spending, and better value for the tax dollars they already pay.
