Residents Want City Hall to Listen

One thing I hear often from residents is that people want City Hall to listen. Not just after decisions are made.

Before.

People know they will not get everything they want on every issue. That is not what they are asking for. They just want to know their concerns were heard, taken seriously, and considered before a decision was made.

At the doors, I have heard from residents who feel disconnected from City Hall. Some feel like decisions are already made before the public has a real chance to weigh in. Others feel like communication from the city is unclear or too late. That creates frustration.

Local government works better when residents feel included and respected. Listening does not mean agreeing with everyone. It means showing up, asking questions, being honest, and staying connected after election day.

Residents should not have to fight to be heard. They should have a councillor who is present in the community, communicates clearly, and brings their concerns to City Hall.

For me, listening first is not a slogan. It is how good decisions should start.
